About Now: For Us

as the bombs drop
and the bullets rage
as innocent blood is spilled
and cities destroyed
care for each other

when you feel helpless
and that you have no power
when you long to stand in your street and scream
and yet know you will not be heard
hold each other

if the anger wells up
until you want to lash out
don't turn on your friends
to vent your rage
be gentle with each other

when the things that are wrong
seem so overwhelmingly huge
don't hurt those who love you
to regain your self
cry with each other

don't let despair be the winner
or let anger eat your soul
as the world erupts in violence
resist with all your might and
dance with each other
